Courses
Here are the courses we provide throughout the school year, taught by professionals in their respective fields. In addition, we also provide these courses for the working class or those on Shlichus living off campus so that they too may benefit and be prepared for married life.
Smicha - Rabbinic Ordination
While one can receive permission to rule in any one particular area of Jewish law, nowadays, for the most part, there are two levels of ordination. The most basic one, called “Yoreh Yoreh,” authorizes the recipient to rule on matters of kashrut and similar areas of Jewish law that pertain to basic daily life. The more advanced level of semicha is called “Yoddin Yoddin,” and authorizes its recipient to rule as a dayan – a judge in financial matters.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe strongly encouraged young men to study and receive at least the basic level of semicha, Yoreh Yoreh, before their wedding. This ensures that there is someone in each Jewish home who is able to answer the day-to-day halachik questions that are sure to arise.
Pre-Smicha - Practical Halacha
This course delves into the historical development of Torah, from its original written form to modern-day Halachic decisions. Through the examination of contemporary Shaalos (questions) and connecting them to their origins in the written Torah, students gain insights into the historical progression of Torah and the evolution of Halacha. The program includes many comprehensive Halachic analyses, providing students with the skills to scrutinize modern-day Shaalos and identify their central issues, promoting a deeper comprehension of how Torah has progressed and how Halachic decisions are made.
Hiskashrus
The ‘Hiskashrus’ is course designed to deepen one’s connection to the Rebbe through the study of sichos, maamarim, and through meaningful discussions. Our goal is for students to leave with a comprehensive understanding of the Nossi's role and how they can personally relate to that role and further develop that role throughout their life. Topics covered include the Nossi's role and how we develop a connection to His mission, Avoida B’koiach Atzmoi, and how studying the Rebbe's Torah fosters Hiskashrus.
